Is the CSP-275 worth it over a cheaper Clavinova?

If you want wooden keys and Grand Expression Modeling, the CSP-275 is the step up that delivers them. Cheaper Clavinovas use synthetic key actions and simpler sound engines, so the gap is mostly feel and response.

How does it compare with the CSP-170 or CLP-700 series?

The CSP-275 sits above the older CSP-170 with a newer sound engine and wooden keys. Against the CLP-700 series it trades some cabinet variety for app-driven features and Bluetooth.

Does it work with apps and Bluetooth?

Yes. It has Bluetooth audio and MIDI plus USB-to-device and MIDI in, out and thru, so it pairs with Yamaha's Smart Pianist app and other music apps.

The piano, its matching bench and the three-pedal unit are included, along with the power supply and owner's manual. Assembly hardware is also supplied.

How big a room does it need?

Plan for at least 1,430 mm of width and 1,237 mm of depth, plus clearance for the bench and for opening the lid. It weighs 133 kg, so it should go on a solid floor.

Holiday sales and end-of-model clearance are the usual windows for discounts. Its latest best price was $4,999 at Kraft Music as of November 3, near the low end of its recent range.

Our take on the Yamaha Clavinova CSP-275 PE Digital Piano

The Yamaha Clavinova CSP-275 PE is an 88-key digital piano in a polished ebony cabinet, built around a wooden-key action with escapement and synthetic ebony and ivory keytops. It uses Yamaha's VRM and Grand Expression Modeling to reproduce the resonance and response of a grand piano, and it adds Bluetooth audio and MIDI plus USB and MIDI connectivity. It is a large, heavy instrument at 133 kg (293 lb) and 1,430 mm wide, so it is a piece of furniture as much as a piano. Its latest best price is $4,999 at Kraft Music as of November 3, near the low end of its recent range.
