Is this a complete drum kit?

No. It is a shell pack: four drums only. You need a snare stand, hi-hat stand, cymbal stands, a bass drum pedal and cymbals to play.

Does it include a snare drum?

No. The four pieces are a 22" bass drum, 10" and 12" rack toms and a 16" floor tom. A snare is sold separately.

What kind of sound does the maple shell give?

Maple with 45-degree edges produces a warm, even tone with controlled sustain, which suits rock, pop and cover-band work.

Is $1,499.99 a good price?

It is the best new price across three stores as of November 7, 2026, but it sits near the top of the kit's recent range. A dip below that is worth waiting for.

What mounting system does it use?

The rack toms use Yamaha's Y.E.S.S. mount, which attaches at the tension rods rather than drilling the shell, plus a TH945C tom holder.

Can I add more drums later?

Yes. Yamaha sells matching Tour Custom add-on toms and bass drums, so the kit can grow into a larger setup.

Our take on the Yamaha Tour Custom 4-Piece Shell Pack

The Yamaha Tour Custom is a four-piece maple shell pack aimed at gigging drummers: 10" and 12" rack toms, a 16" floor tom and a 22" bass drum. The 6-ply, 5.6mm maple shells with 45-degree bearing edges give a warm, focused tone that sits well in a live mix. Steel 2.3mm Inverse Dyna hoops on the toms and wood hoops on the bass drum are touches usually found on pricier kits. At $1,499.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so waiting for a dip is reasonable if you are not in a hurry.
