Does the Yamaha Stage Custom Birch shell pack include cymbals or hardware?

No. It is a shell pack: bass drum, rack tom, floor tom and snare, plus a double tom arm. Cymbals, stands, pedals and throne are sold separately.

What sizes are in this five-piece kit?

A 20" x 17" bass drum, 12" x 8" rack tom, 14" x 13" floor tom and 14" x 5.5" snare. The fifth piece is the snare, so there is one rack tom and one floor tom.

Is birch a good wood for drums?

Yes. Birch is known for a bright, punchy attack and controlled sustain, which suits rock, pop and live work. Maple is warmer and rounder if you prefer that.

Is $899.99 a good price for this kit?

That is the best new price across five stores as of November 7, 2026. It sits in the normal range for a new Stage Custom Birch shell pack, so it is a fair price rather than a deep discount.

How heavy is the kit to move?

The shells total about 32 kg, and the 20" bass drum is the bulkiest piece. One person can move it in a few trips, but a cart helps for gigs.

What else do I need to play it?

A snare stand, hi-hat stand, cymbal stands, a bass drum pedal, a throne and cymbals. Budget for those on top of the shell pack price.

Our take on the Yamaha Stage Custom Birch 5-Piece Shell Pack

The Yamaha Stage Custom Birch is a five-piece shell pack with a 20" bass drum, 12" rack tom, 14" floor tom and 14" snare, all in all-birch shells. Birch gives it a punchy, focused attack with a controlled low end, and Yamaha's build quality is a benchmark at this price. It ships as shells only, so cymbals and hardware are extra. The best new price is $899.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, with five stores listing it new.
