Is the YDP-105 good for a beginner?

Yes. The weighted 88-key action and three pedals let a beginner learn proper technique without upgrading soon. Its limited voices and polyphony matter more to advanced players.

How does the YDP-105 compare with the YDP-145?

The YDP-145 adds a taller cabinet, stronger amplifiers, and Virtual Resonance Modeling. The YDP-105 keeps the same GHS keybed but with simpler sound and 64-note polyphony.

Can I use headphones with the YDP-105?

Yes. It has two 1/4-inch headphone jacks, so a teacher or parent can listen alongside the player. Plugging in headphones mutes the speakers.

Does the YDP-105 work with the Smart Pianist app?

Yes, over USB. Connect the piano to a phone or tablet with a USB cable and the app shows sheet music and lets you adjust settings.

What is in the box with the YDP-105?

The piano comes with its stand, three-pedal unit, power adaptor, and music rest. A bench is usually not included.

Our take on the Yamaha Ydp105 Rosewood

The Yamaha YDP-105 is the entry model in Yamaha's Arius line: an 88-key digital piano with a graded hammer standard (GHS) weighted keyboard, matte black keytops, and three pedals including half-pedal damper support. It has 10 voices, 64-note polyphony, stereo 6 W amplifiers through two 12 cm speakers, a built-in metronome, and USB-MIDI for use with the Smart Pianist app. At $999.99 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range; the YDP-105 typically sells for less during seasonal sales.

What reviewers say

Owners of the Arius line generally describe the YDP-105 as a solid first piano with a convincing weighted action for the price. Most criticism centers on the limited sounds and low polyphony rather than the keyboard itself.
