Is the Zinus 6 inch twin mattress worth it?

For a kid's room, bunk bed or guest bed, yes. It costs $96.99 at Newegg.com as of November 4, 2026, and is light enough to move alone. Adults over about 250 pounds or anyone wanting a plush bed should look at a thicker mattress.

It is medium firm. The memory foam top layer softens slightly under body heat, but the 6-inch base keeps it fairly supportive. Side sleepers may find it too firm.

Does it need a box spring?

It works on a box spring, a slatted frame or a platform bed. Slats should be close together so the foam does not sag through gaps.

How long does it take to expand?

It ships compressed in a box and usually reaches full 6-inch height within 48 to 72 hours. Some odor may linger for a few days, so air it out in a ventilated room.

Is it good for kids and bunk beds?

Yes. The 6-inch height fits most bunk rails and the medium firm feel suits children. The 250-pound weight limit is the main thing to check.

Budget foam mattresses like this one tend to dip during major sales events and back-to-school season. The current $96.99 at Newegg.com as of November 4, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent range.
