Which is better for a construction crew?

The Retevis RT68, because ten radios cover a crew and Type-C charging keeps them running. The Cobra is better only if you need two radios and weather alerts.

Which has better range?

Cobra claims up to 23 miles, but that is an open-field figure. Both are UHF/FRS radios, so real range in buildings is far shorter and similar between them.

Is the Cobra worth it for two people?

Yes. At $69.95 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it costs less than the Retevis 10-pack and adds weather channels and a waterproof body.

Do the Retevis radios need batteries?

No. They use built-in 1200mAh batteries charged over Type-C, rated for 8-12 hours. The Cobra runs on six AA batteries, which are included.

Which lasts longer on a charge?

The Retevis is rated 8-12 hours per charge. The Cobra's runtime depends on the AA batteries you fit, so rechargeable AAs are worth carrying.

Can the two brands talk to each other?

Only if they share a channel and privacy code. The Cobra has 22 channels and the Retevis 16 FRS channels, so set both to a common channel and matching code.
