Questions and answers
- Is this the same PS5 as the original, just smaller?
- Yes. The slim has the same CPU, GPU and 1TB SSD as the revised original, in a smaller chassis. Performance in games is effectively identical.
- Do I need a stand to place it vertically?
- The slim ships with a small vertical stand in most regions; check the box contents. Horizontal placement works without one.
- Can it play PS4 discs?
- Yes. The disc drive plays both PS5 and PS4 physical games, and it also plays Blu-ray and DVD movies.
- What is in the box?
- The PS5 Slim Disc console, one DualSense controller, an HDMI cable, a power cord, a stand, ASTRO BOT and ASTRO's PLAYROOM, plus the Mytrix controller case.
- Does it support 8K and 120 FPS?
- It supports up to 120 FPS and 8K output, but only on compatible TVs and in supported games. Most titles run at 4K or lower.
- Can I add more storage?
- Yes. There is an M.2 NVMe SSD slot for adding a compatible drive, and USB drives can store and play PS4 games.
- Where is the 2025 New PlayStation 5 Slim Disc Edition ASTRO BOT Bundle and Mytrix Controller Case cheapest?
- At Amazon, for $619.99, as of our latest check.
