Our take on the Alcott Hill 72" Lifesize Hanging Animated Shaking Ghost on Swing

A 72-inch hanging Halloween prop: a fabric ghost seated on a swing, animated to shake and sway. It runs on batteries, so no cord or outlet is needed, and it hangs indoors or out. It is a large statement piece at 6 feet tall and 24 inches wide, best for a porch, tree or doorway where it has room to move.

Best forPorch or front-yard Halloween displays
Hanging from a tree branch or porch beam
Shoppers who want a big prop without wiring
Households with kids who like motion-activated scares
Pros
  • Six-foot size makes it visible from the street
  • Battery power means no outlet or extension cord
  • Shaking motion adds life to a static decoration
  • Fabric body is light enough to hang from a sturdy hook
  • Works indoors or outdoors
Cons
  • Battery-operated, so you will replace batteries through the season
  • Fabric will soak up rain and needs shelter in wet weather
  • Motion is a shake and sway, not a jump-scare or sound effect
  • Needs a strong, high anchor point for a 6-foot hanging prop
  • No sound or lights mentioned, so it relies on movement alone

Questions and answers

How big is the ghost?
It stands 72 inches tall and 24 inches wide, so about 6 feet from top to bottom. Plan for a hanging point high enough to keep the bottom off the ground.
Does it need an outlet?
No. It is battery operated, so you can hang it away from power. Expect to swap batteries during the Halloween season if you run it nightly.
Can it go outside in the rain?
It is listed for outdoor use, but the body is fabric. In steady rain it will get heavy and soggy, so a covered porch is safer than open sky.
Does it make noise or light up?
The listed feature is animation only. It shakes and swings; no sound or lighting is specified.
What do I need to hang it?
A sturdy hook, beam or branch rated for the prop's weight, plus batteries. Check the box contents for mounting hardware before you plan the spot.
When is the best time to buy Halloween props?
Prices on seasonal decor usually drop right after Halloween and rise again in late September. If you need it for this year, buy early; if not, wait for post-season clearance.
