Is $48.99 a good price for this pair?

It is the only new price listed, $48.99 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026. With one store selling it new, there is little room to find a lower price elsewhere.

What is included in the box?

You get a set of two 12.5 lb dumbbells. Nothing else is included.

Will the neoprene coating damage my floors?

The neoprene coating is softer than bare metal and is designed to protect floors and reduce noise. Avoid dropping them on rough surfaces, which can scuff the coating.

Do these dumbbells roll?

No. The hexagonal ends stop them from rolling, so they stay put when set down.

Are these good for beginners?

12.5 lb per hand suits light to moderate pressing, rowing and curling. Complete beginners may want a lighter pair first.

Can I use them for heavy lifting?

They are fixed at 12.5 lb each, so they suit accessory and light work rather than heavy compound lifts.

Our take on the Amazon Basics Neoprene Dumbbell, 12.5 lb (Pair)

These are a pair of 12.5 lb hex dumbbells from Amazon Basics with a cast iron core and a neoprene coating. The hex ends keep them from rolling, and the nonslip grip and color coding make them easy to grab and sort. The best new price is $48.99 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists them new, so there is little price competition to wait for.
