Is the Ameristep Caretaker worth it?

At $102.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is one of the cheaper two-person hub blinds. If you hunt from the ground and want a dark interior without spending much, it is a reasonable buy.

How many people fit in the Caretaker?

Ameristep rates it for two people. The 55 x 55 inch footprint and 66-inch height give two hunters room to sit, and one can stand to shoot a bow.

Does it come with a carry bag?

Yes. A carry bag is included, and the blind folds to about 42.3 x 8 x 7.75 inches. It weighs 13.5 lbs, so plan on a short pack-in.

Can I shoot through the windows?

The windows use shoot-through mesh, so you can leave them closed and shoot through them with a bow or crossbow. Many hunters brush the mesh aside for firearm shots.

When is the Caretaker cheapest?

Ground blinds usually drop in late summer and early fall, before bow season, and again after the season ends. Compare the five stores listing it new rather than assuming one price holds.

Our take on the Ameristep Caretaker

The Ameristep Caretaker is a two-person ground blind built on a Spider Hub metal-stamped frame with a Durashell Plus fabric shell. It measures 66 inches tall and 55 inches on each side, uses shoot-through mesh windows for a 360-degree view, and packs down to roughly 42 x 8 x 8 inches in the included carry bag. ShadowGuard coating is meant to kill shadows and silhouettes inside the blind. At $102.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the five stores listing it new charge.
