Our take on the Ameristep Caretaker Run & Gun Blind

The Ameristep Caretaker Run & Gun is a two-person ground blind built for hunters who move often. It sets up on a Spider Hub frame, weighs 12 lbs and folds to 40 x 8 x 8 inches, so it packs into a truck or on a backpack. ShadowGuard coating cuts shadows and silhouettes, and the triangular windows toggle open silently. At $99.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across 5 stores.

Questions and answers

Is the Caretaker Run & Gun worth it at $99.99?
At $99.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is a fair price for a light two-person blind. It suits hunters who move often more than hunters who leave a blind out all season.
How does it compare with the standard Ameristep Caretaker?
The Run & Gun version is built around portability: 12 lbs and a 40 x 8 x 8-inch pack size. The standard Caretaker is heavier and roomier, better for a fixed setup.
Is it waterproof?
No. The Durashell Plus fabric is not waterproof, so plan on a rain fly or pick a different blind for wet weather.
How many hunters fit inside?
It is rated for two hunters, with a 63-inch shooting width and 65-inch height. Two adults fit, but standing fully upright is tight.
What comes in the box?
The blind, a carry bag, ground stakes and high-wind tie-downs. The stakes and tie-downs are what keep the Spider Hub frame stable.
When is it cheapest?
Prices vary by store and season. Check the price history before buying; $99.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026 is near the low end of what 5 stores list.
Where is the Ameristep Caretaker Run & Gun Blind cheapest?
At McCunn Specialty Firearms, for $120.90, 30% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Ameristep Caretaker Run & Gun Blind?
Rated 3.8 out of 5 from 7 ratings.
Where can I buy the Ameristep Caretaker Run & Gun Blind?
8 stores we checked sell it, including McCunn Specialty Firearms, Green Top Sporting Goods, Texas Fowlers, Explosive Powersports, eBay.
