Our take on the Amishwerks Refrigerator Wall Cabinet, 36in x 24in

The Amishwerks Refrigerator Wall Cabinet is a 36-inch-wide, 24-inch-deep wall cabinet designed to sit above a refrigerator, with two hinged doors and no drawers. Its 24-inch depth matches the footprint of a standard fridge, so it lines up with the appliance below instead of leaving a shallow gap. It ships unassembled, so plan on building it before hanging. The latest best price we have is $159 at Distritech as of November 3; we have no earlier price history to compare it against.

Pros
  • 24-inch depth lines up with standard refrigerator depth
  • 36-inch width covers the typical fridge opening
  • Two hinged doors give full-width access to the space above the fridge
  • No drawers keeps the interior open for tall or bulky items
  • Wall-mount design leaves floor space clear
Cons
  • Ships unassembled; assembly and hanging take time and tools
  • 12-inch height is shallow, so tall cereal boxes and pitchers may not fit
  • No drawers or dividers, so small items need their own bins
  • Hinged doors need clearance to swing open in tight kitchens
  • No finish, hardware or shelf details are specified, so check those before ordering

Questions and answers

Is this cabinet worth it over a cheaper stock cabinet?
It depends on the depth. A 24-inch-deep cabinet is what makes the space above a fridge usable and visually flush; most stock wall cabinets are 12 inches deep and leave a recess. At $159 at Distritech as of November 3, it is priced like a mid-range cabinet, so compare against other 24-inch-deep options before deciding.
Will it fit over my refrigerator?
It is 36 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 24 inches deep, which suits a standard 36-inch fridge opening. Measure your fridge width and the clearance to the ceiling first; you need at least 12 inches of height plus room to hang and open the doors.
Does it come assembled?
No. Assembly is required, so expect to join the panels, square the box and then mount it on the wall. Two people make hanging a 36-inch cabinet much easier.
What is included in the box?
The listing does not detail the contents, so confirm with the seller whether doors, hinges, shelves and mounting hardware are included before you order. Budget for separate wall anchors or a ledger board if hardware is not supplied.
How does it compare with a 12-inch-deep wall cabinet?
A 12-inch cabinet is cheaper and lighter but leaves a deep gap over the fridge and is harder to reach into. The 24-inch depth here matches the fridge footprint and gives usable storage, at the cost of more weight and a deeper box to hang.
When is the best time to buy it?
We only have the $159 Distritech price from November 3, so we cannot say whether that is a low point. Watch it through the holiday and remodel-season sales, and compare against other stores before buying.
