Our take on the Ashland 9ft. Pre-Lit Rothwell Slim Artificial Christmas Tree

The Ashland Rothwell is a 9-foot slim artificial pine with 400 warm white LED lights built in. Its 33-inch diameter lets it fit hallways, narrow corners and rooms where a full-width tree would crowd the furniture. The PE and PVC hard-needle mix gives it a fuller look than cheap PVC-only trees, and it is flame-retardant for indoor use. At $169.99 at Michaels Stores as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a pre-lit 9-foot slim tree usually costs.

Questions and answers

Is the Ashland Rothwell 9 ft tree worth it?
At $169.99 at Michaels Stores as of November 5, 2026, it is a fair price for a pre-lit 9-foot slim tree. Buy it if you need height without width; skip it if you want a dense, heavily decorated tree.
How wide is it, and will it fit my space?
It is 33 inches in diameter, so it needs about 3 feet of floor space plus room for gifts. That is much narrower than a standard 9-foot tree, which usually runs 5 to 6 feet wide.
How many lights does it have?
It has 400 warm white LED lights. That is on the light side for 9 feet, so expect a soft glow rather than a bright, densely lit tree.
Can I use it outdoors?
No. It is rated for indoor use only, so keep it out of porches and yards even if covered.
What comes in the box?
The tree sections, the pre-attached light strings and a metal stand. A storage bag is not listed, so plan to buy one.
When is it cheapest?
Artificial trees usually drop after Christmas and in early November sales. Watch the price history to see whether $169.99 is below its usual level.
Where is the Ashland 9ft. Pre-Lit Rothwell Slim Artificial Christmas Tree cheapest?
