Is the Mark II worth it over the original 24-105mm f/4L?

Yes if you shoot in bad weather or want rounder bokeh. The Mark II adds better sealing, a 10-blade aperture and improved stabilization, but sharpness gains are modest.

Will this lens work on a Canon RF-mount mirrorless body?

Only with an EF-to-RF mount adapter. It mounts natively on EF-mount DSLRs and works on RF bodies through the adapter with autofocus and stabilization intact.

Is f/4 fast enough for indoor events?

It is workable with stabilization and higher ISO, but it is not an action lens. For dim receptions or sports, an f/2.8 zoom or a fast prime gives more light.

The lens comes with its lens hood. Front and rear caps and a soft case are typically included, but check the listing for the exact bundle.

It tends to drop during holiday sales and Canon rebate periods. At $999 as of November 3, 2026, it is near its recent high, so waiting for a promotion can pay off.
