Our take on the Dahlia Black Twin Velvet Upholstered Daybed With Pull-Out Twin Trundle

The Dahlia is a twin-size upholstered daybed in black velvet over an engineered wood frame, with a pull-out twin trundle that turns it into two sleeping spots. Slats are included, so no box spring is needed, and the 300 lb weight capacity covers most adults and kids. It works as a sofa by day and a guest bed by night in a small room. Questions and answers

Do I need a box spring?
No. The frame includes slats, so a twin mattress sits directly on them. A low-profile mattress, around 6 to 8 inches, keeps the daybed back looking right.
Are mattresses included?
No. You need two twin mattresses, one for the top and one for the trundle. Trundle spaces are shallow, so check that your trundle mattress is thin enough to roll under.
How much weight does it hold?
The listed maximum is 300 lb. That is fine for most teens and adults, but heavier sleepers should look at a solid wood or metal frame rated higher.
Is it hard to assemble?
Expect a couple of hours with two people. The frame, slats and trundle come flat-packed, and the upholstered panels are the heaviest part.
Does the trundle pop up to bed height?
This is a pull-out trundle, so the second mattress stays low to the floor. A pop-up trundle, which raises to the same height, is a different design.
When is the best time to buy?
Furniture discounts cluster around holiday sales and end-of-season clearances. Check the price history here and buy when it dips below its recent range.
