Our take on the DeWalt 28 in. 224cc 3-in-1 Self-Propelled Gas Push Lawn Mower 12ABW6RK039

The DeWalt 12ABW6RK039 is a 28-inch, 224cc self-propelled gas mower with a three-in-one cutting system: mulch, side discharge or bag. Its wide deck covers about 0.8 acre and cuts down mowing time on large lots. The best new price is $1,649 at Home Depot as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.

Questions and answers

Is the DeWalt 28-inch mower worth $1,649?
It makes sense if you mow close to an acre and want to finish faster with a 28-inch deck. At $1,649 it costs more than most 21-inch self-propelled mowers, so the wide cut has to matter to you.
How does it compare with a 21-inch mower?
The 28-inch deck covers roughly a third more width per pass, so a large lawn takes fewer laps. The trade-off is a heavier, bulkier machine that is harder to store and turn.
What does 3-in-1 mean on this mower?
It can mulch clippings into the lawn, discharge them out the side, or collect them in a bag. You switch between modes by changing the discharge chute or plug.
How much lawn can it handle?
DeWalt rates it for about 0.8 acre. The 224cc engine and self-propelled drive suit flat to gently sloped yards of that size.
When is the best time to buy it?
Gas mowers usually see the deepest discounts in late summer and fall as stores clear seasonal stock. Watch the price history rather than assuming the current $1,649 is the floor.
What comes in the box?
Expect the mower, a mulching plug and side-discharge chute, and a bag if the bagging kit is included. Check the listing for the exact included accessories before ordering.
Where is the DeWalt 28 in. 224cc 3-in-1 Self-Propelled Gas Push Lawn Mower 12ABW6RK039 cheapest?
