Is the Toro TimeMaster worth it over a 21-inch mower?

If you mow close to an acre, the 30-inch deck cuts passes by roughly a third and saves real time each week. For small or heavily landscaped yards, a lighter 21-inch mower is easier to handle.

Does the TimeMaster have electric start?

No. The 223cc Briggs and Stratton engine starts with a pull cord. There is no electric start or battery on this model.

How much lawn can it handle on one tank?

The tank holds 0.3 gallons, so expect to refuel during a full one-acre cut. Keep a gas can on hand for larger jobs.

Can it mulch and bag?

Yes. It bags, mulches and side-discharges, and the blade brake clutch lets you stop the blades to empty the bag without restarting the engine.

What cutting heights does it offer?

Height adjusts from 1.25 to 4.25 inches with a 2-point system. That range covers typical cool-season and warm-season lawns.

When is the best time to buy?

Walk-behind mowers usually see the deepest discounts in late fall and winter, outside the spring mowing season. The current best new price is $1,699 at Fred Caldwell Tractors as of November 5, 2026.

Our take on the Toro Timemaster 30-inch 21219/21220

The Toro TimeMaster is a 30-inch walk-behind gas mower built for large residential lawns, with a 223cc Briggs and Stratton engine, rear-wheel drive and variable speed. Its twin-blade 30-inch deck cuts wider than a standard 21-inch mower, so a one-acre yard takes noticeably fewer passes. It bags, mulches and side-discharges, and a blade brake clutch lets you step away with the engine running. The best new price is $1,699 at Fred Caldwell Tractors as of November 5, 2026, with three stores listing it new.
