Best forWhole-home or large-room supplemental heat up to 1,800 ft²Mobile home and alcove installationsBuyers who want an EPA 2020 certified stoveOff-grid or power-outage heating, since the blower is optional
Pros
  • High 65,000 BTU/h maximum output for a mid-size freestanding stove
  • Certified for mobile home and alcove installs, which many stoves are not
  • EPA 2020 certified at 76% optimum efficiency
  • Works without electricity; the blower is optional
  • Standard 6-inch flue outlet simplifies chimney matching
Cons
  • 321 lb and roughly 24 inches wide and 23 inches deep, so it needs clearance and a solid floor
  • Non-catalytic design means more frequent small loads to stay clean-burning
  • Blower and its 15A circuit are extra cost
  • Only two stores list it new, so price competition is thin

Questions and answers

Is the Drolet Deco II worth it?
For a mid-size freestanding stove that must be mobile-home or alcove certified, yes. At $1,429.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it undercuts many comparable EPA 2020 stoves. Compare against catalytic stoves if you want longer burn times.
How does it compare with the original Deco?
The Deco II is the EPA 2020-certified version, with 76% optimum efficiency and up to 65,000 BTU/h. Check the certification label on any older Deco before assuming the same numbers.
Do I need the blower?
No. The stove heats by radiation and natural convection without power. The optional 100 CFM blower needs a 120V, 15A circuit and mainly helps push warm air into adjacent rooms.
What size chimney and clearance does it need?
It vents through a 6-inch flue into a UL103HT wood chimney. Clearances depend on the wall and whether it is in an alcove or mobile home, so follow the manual's listed clearances for your setup.
What is in the box?
The stove itself with the ceramic glass door and stainless steel heat shield. The blower is optional and sold separately, and chimney pipe is not included.
When is it cheapest?
Wood stoves usually discount in spring and early summer, outside the fall heating rush. With only two stores listing it new, watch both rather than waiting for a broad sale.
Where is the Drolet Deco II Wood Stove cheapest?
At eBay, for $1,429.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Drolet Deco II Wood Stove?
Rated 4.3 out of 5 from 39 ratings.
Where can I buy the Drolet Deco II Wood Stove?
11 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, Home Depot, BBQDirect, Elegant Home USA, Fire Pit Surplus.
