Our take on the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s

The Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s is a solidbody single-cut electric guitar with a mahogany body, maple cap and a figured maple veneer, built to the classic Les Paul recipe. It pairs a SlimTaper 60s C-profile mahogany neck with a laurel fretboard, Grover Rotomatic tuners, a Graph Tech nut and Epiphone ProBucker humbuckers (ProBucker 2 neck, hotter ProBucker 3 bridge). The 24.75-inch scale and LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar keep it familiar to Les Paul players. At $499 at Black Mountain Guitar Co as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with four stores pricing it new.

About the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s

PROFESSIONAL HEADSTOCK REPAIR

Epiphone’s long friendship with Mr. Les Paul began in 1940 when Les built one of the world’s first solidbody electric guitars while working nights at the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan. Les’s first solidbody guitar, nicknamed “the Log,” would go on to inspire the Les Paul Standard, which many consider the greatest electric guitar ever made.

The Les Paul Standard 60s Figured is crafted with a mahogany body and a maple cap with a gorgeous, highly figured maple veneer, delivering the rich midrange punch of mahogany along with a touch of brightness from the maple cap, which is essential to the sonic signature of a Les Paul Standard. The highly figured maple veneer gives it the stunning looks of a far more expensive guitar.

It also has a mahogany neck with a fast-playing SlimTaper 60s C-profile and long neck tenon for exceptional stability and added sustain. The fretboard is now rosewood and features pearloid trapezoid inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.

The 60s Kalamazoo headstock is equipped with quality Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines and a Graph Tech® nut, ensuring solid tuning stability, while the other ends of the strings pass over an Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and are anchored with a LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece.

The Les Paul Standard 60s is powered by a pair of critically acclaimed Epiphone ProBucker™ humbuckers™, with a ProBucker 2 in the neck position and a slightly hotter ProBucker 3 in the bridge for a balanced tone in all three switch positions. The pickups are wired to individual volume and tone controls that feature high-quality CTS® potentiometers, and the controls are topped with gold Top Hat knobs with dial pointers.

A premium gig bag is also included. The Les Paul Standard 60s Figured is a fitting and accessible tribute to those legendary vintage Bursts that players at every stage can enjoy.

Questions and answers

Is the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s worth it?
Yes for most players. It gives you the Les Paul formula, ProBucker pickups and Grover hardware at a midrange price, and at $499 at Black Mountain Guitar Co as of November 4, 2026 it is near the bottom of its recent range.
How does it differ from the Standard '50s?
The '60s has a slimmer SlimTaper 60s C neck profile and the ProBucker 2/3 pickup set, while the '50s model uses a chunkier neck and different pickups. Choose the '60s if you prefer a faster, thinner neck.
What is included in the box?
The guitar comes with a premium gig bag. A truss rod wrench is typically included; a stand, strap and cable are not.
Is the neck good for small hands?
The SlimTaper 60s C profile is relatively slim, and the 1.69-inch nut width is standard, so it suits most hands. Players used to very thin shred necks may still find it substantial.
When is it cheapest?
Les Paul Standards tend to dip during holiday sales and when a new version launches. At $499 as of November 4, 2026 it is already at the low end of its recent range, so waiting may not save much.
Where is the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s cheapest?
At Black Mountain Guitar Co, for $499.00, 29% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s?
4 stores we checked sell it, including Black Mountain Guitar Co, Newell's Music, Amazon, eBay.
