Our take on the FPD 40-inch Smart TV 1080p FHD

The FPD 40-inch Smart TV is a budget 1080p LED set running Samsung's Tizen platform, so it gets Netflix and the usual streaming apps plus Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct. It is a basic 60 Hz panel with 240 nits brightness and HDR10 support that can accept the signal but cannot show much of the range. At $184.25 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a 40-inch smart TV costs, and only one store currently prices it new.

Questions and answers

Is this TV worth buying at $184.25?
For a small room or a second TV, yes. At that price you get 1080p and built-in streaming, but expect a dim panel and basic sound.
Is 1080p enough for a 40-inch TV?
At normal viewing distance of 5 to 7 feet, 1080p looks sharp on a 40-inch screen. 4K would only help if you sit very close.
Does it support HDR properly?
It accepts HDR10 signals, but with 240 nits brightness it cannot show real highlights. Treat HDR as compatibility, not a benefit.
How many HDMI ports does it have?
Two. That covers a console and a streaming box, but a third device means swapping cables or using a splitter.
Can I mount it on a wall?
Yes, it is listed as wall-mountable. You will need a VESA bracket, which is not included.
When is it cheapest?
The lowest new price seen is $184.25 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026. Budget TVs like this usually drop further around Black Friday and the Super Bowl.
Where is the FPD 40-inch Smart TV 1080p FHD cheapest?
At Walmart, for $184.25, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the FPD 40-inch Smart TV 1080p FHD?
Rated 3.3 out of 5 from 21 ratings.
