Is the Honeywell HEV320B worth it?

At $52.99 at Sylvane as of November 3, 2026, it is a cheap way to add filtered, dust-free moisture to a small room. You give up auto shutoff and a humidistat at this price.

How does it compare with a warm-mist or ultrasonic humidifier?

Evaporative units like this one can't over-humidify a room and don't leave white dust, but they put out less visible mist and need a filter. Ultrasonic models are quieter but need distilled water to avoid mineral dust.

How often do I refill the tank?

The 0.8-gallon tank lasts up to 18 hours on low, so roughly once a day there. On high, expect to refill about twice a day.

What filter does it use and how often should I change it?

It uses the HC888 wicking filter, and one is included. Replace it when it stiffens or stops wicking, typically every one to three months depending on water hardness and use.

What comes in the box?

One HC888 wicking filter and the owner's manual. No cleaning cartridge is included; the Protec cartridge is sold separately.

Humidifiers usually drop in price in late winter and early spring as demand falls. Track the price history and buy when it dips below the current $52.99.

Wicking Filter

This wicking filter, with a Protec antimicrobial treatment, prevents the growth of algae, mold, and bacteria on the filter itself. Its design prioritizes optimal moisture output, traps minerals from the water to avoid the buildup of white dust, and features a blue pre-filter layer to trap large particles from the air that passes through the filter.

Protec Antimicrobial Cleaning Cartridge

Consider adding a Protec Antimicrobial Cleaning Cartridge between deep cleanings to help keep your humidifier clean for longer. It contains aquastat, a patented antimicrobial, that continuously prevents mold, bacteria, and slime buildup from growing in the water and surfaces of the Honeywell Home humidifier. This cartridge contains no harsh acids or chemicals for safe, non-toxic cleaning. These cartridges are purchased separately.
