Is the Ibanez AS53 good for beginners?

Yes. It is a full-size semi-hollow with a comfortable neck and a low price, though a setup by a shop will help it play its best.

How does the AS53 differ from the AS73?

The AS53 uses sapele and nyatoh with a matte finish, while the AS73 uses maple and mahogany with gloss and different pickups. The AS73 costs more.

It has a 628 mm scale and a 43 mm nut width, close to a standard Gibson-style feel.

No. The AS53 is sold as the guitar alone, so budget for a gig bag or hardshell case.

Semi-hollow bodies can feedback at high gain and volume. The center block helps, but keep it away from loud amps at high gain.
