Is this kit good for a total beginner?

Yes. It has standard full-size dimensions and comes with cymbals and a pedal, so a new drummer can start playing without buying extra parts.

What is included in the box?

Five drums (22x16 bass, 14x5.5 snare, 12, 13 and 16 inch toms), cymbals and a single bass drum pedal. A throne and sticks are not listed, so plan to buy those.

How does it compare with a compact or junior kit?

This uses full-size shells, so it sounds and feels closer to a standard kit. A junior set suits small players or tight rooms better.

Will I need to replace the drumheads?

Most budget kits sound better with new heads. Factory heads work for practice, but upgrading the snare and bass heads makes the biggest difference.

Is $269.99 a good price?

It is the only new price listed, at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, so there is no recent range to compare. For a full-size kit with cymbals, it sits at the low end of the market.
