Our take on the Latex for Less 2" Soft Matress Topper

The Latex for Less 2" Soft Mattress Topper is a two-inch Dunlop latex layer with a GOTS organic cotton cover, made in California from GOLS-certified organic Sri Lankan latex. It is a medium-firm topper, so despite the "Soft" name it adds gentle cushioning and pressure relief rather than a plush sink-in feel. It suits sleepers who want to soften a too-firm mattress without losing support. It is sold in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen and Cal King; the Queen measures 60 inches wide and the Cal King 84 inches long.

Best forBack and stomach sleepers on a mattress that feels too hardSide sleepers who need mild pressure relief at shoulders and hipsShoppers avoiding memory foam, polyurethane and synthetic fillsHot sleepers who want a breathable, perforated natural latex layer
Pros
  • GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex with no fillers or synthetic blends
  • GOTS-certified organic cotton cover
  • Perforated latex and an open-cell structure sleep cooler than memory foam
  • Two inches adds cushioning without changing the mattress's support feel much
  • Handcrafted in California; five sizes including Cal King
Cons
  • Medium-firm, not plush: the "Soft" label overstates the cushioning
  • Latex is heavy and dense, so rotating or moving it is awkward
  • The removable cover is optional, and the base variant ships without one
  • Costs more than a polyfoam or memory foam topper of the same thickness
  • Natural latex has a faint rubber smell that fades over days to weeks

Questions and answers

Is the 2-inch topper firm enough to change how my mattress feels?
It is medium-firm, so it adds a cushioning layer over a hard mattress rather than transforming it. Sleepers wanting a plush feel should look at a thicker or softer topper.
Does it sleep hot?
No. Perforated Dunlop latex and the cotton cover breathe better than memory foam, and most owners report it sleeps cooler than their old foam topper.
Will it fit my mattress size?
It comes in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen and Cal King, with the Queen at 60 inches wide and the Cal King at 84 inches long. Match the topper to your mattress size, not the bed frame.
Is the cover included?
A GOTS-certified organic cotton cover is available, but the base variant is sold without a removable cover. Check which variant you are buying before ordering.
How does it compare with a memory foam topper?
Latex is springier, more breathable and more durable, but it costs more and feels firmer. Memory foam conforms more and is cheaper, though it tends to sleep warmer and flatten sooner.
When is it cheapest?
Latex for Less runs periodic sales around holidays and overstock events. Watch the price history on this page rather than buying at the first listed price.
