Our take on the Lucid 6 Inch Memory Foam Mattress Dual-Layered

The Lucid 6 Inch Memory Foam Mattress is a budget gel-foam mattress with a dual-layer build: a gel-infused memory foam comfort layer over a denser support base. At 6 inches it is thin, so it suits bunks, trundles, sofa beds, guest rooms and kids rather than a primary adult bed. The best new price is $171.82 at Overstock as of November 4, 2026, with three stores listing it new.

Pros
  • Low price for a gel memory foam mattress
  • Thin 6-inch profile fits bunks and sofa beds
  • Gel infusion helps limit heat buildup
  • Dual-layer foam gives some support under the soft top
  • Ships compressed in a box and expands on its own
Cons
  • 6 inches is too thin for most adults as a main bed
  • Firm, shallow feel with little sink-in
  • Foam may sleep warm for hot sleepers
  • No edge support; edges compress easily
  • Limited durability compared with thicker mattresses

Questions and answers

Is the Lucid 6 inch mattress good enough for an adult to sleep on every night?
For most adults, no. At 6 inches it is best for kids, guest rooms, bunks and occasional use. Adults who want a main bed should look at 8 to 10 inch foam mattresses.
How firm is it?
It feels medium firm. The gel memory foam top layer is thin, so there is little sink-in and the denser base dominates.
Does it work on a bunk bed or sofa bed?
Yes. The 6-inch profile is made for bunks, trundles and sofa beds where a thicker mattress will not fit or fold.
How long does it take to expand after unboxing?
It usually reaches most of its height within 24 to 48 hours. Cooler rooms can slow expansion.
Is it hot to sleep on?
The gel infusion helps, but a 6-inch foam mattress still traps some heat. Hot sleepers may prefer a thicker gel or hybrid mattress.
When is the best time to buy it?
Prices on this mattress move around holidays and back-to-school sales. Compare the three stores listing it new before buying.
