Is it comfortable enough to sleep on every night?

It is built for occasional guests, not nightly use. The foam fill is thin, and most owners treat it as a backup bed.

How big is it when folded out?

The sofa is about 71.2 inches wide and 30.5 inches deep. Folding it flat extends the sleeping surface to roughly a twin-plus length, so check your room before buying.

Does it come assembled?

No. Assembly is required, and owners report it takes some time. Set aside an hour or two and have a second person help.

Will it hold two adults?

The frame is rated to 600 lb, so two average adults are within the limit. The sleeping surface is narrow, though, so it suits one adult or two small people better.

How should I clean the velvet?

Vacuum with a soft brush attachment and blot spills right away. Avoid soaking the fabric, and keep it out of direct sun to limit fading.

When is the best time to buy?

Mercer41 is a Wayfair house brand, so the lowest prices usually land during Wayfair's major sales events. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.

Our take on the Mercer41 Modern Velvet Folding Sofa Bed

The Mercer41 Modern Velvet Folding Sofa Bed is a tufted velvet sleeper that folds flat for guests and small rooms. It measures about 71 inches wide and 30.5 inches deep, with a solid and manufactured wood frame rated to 600 lb. Assembly is required. It is a niche Wayfair-house-brand piece, so its price moves with sales rather than staying fixed.
