Our take on the Merrland 18 inch Queen Size Metal Platform Bed Frame Heavy-Duty

The Merrland 18-inch Queen Metal Platform Bed Frame is a heavy-duty steel frame with a captain's-style headboard, built-in drawers and a slatted platform that needs no box spring. Its 18-inch height leaves room for under-bed storage, and the drawers add enclosed storage on top of that. It is a budget-minded frame aimed at people who want storage and a tall profile without a wooden bed.

Questions and answers

Is this frame worth it over a basic metal platform bed?
If you want the 18-inch clearance and the drawers, yes. A plain platform frame costs less but gives you no enclosed storage.
Do I need a box spring with this frame?
No. It ships with slats, so a queen mattress sits directly on the frame.
How much clearance is under the bed?
The frame is 18 inches tall, so expect roughly that much room beneath it, minus the frame's own structure.
Will a queen mattress fit?
Yes, it is sized for a standard queen mattress. Check the 78 by 82 inch footprint against your room before ordering.
What is in the box?
The frame, headboard, slats and drawers ship as a flat-pack kit. A mattress is not included.
When is it cheapest?
Metal bed frames usually drop during bedding sales and around major holiday events. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
