Is the M18 Hackzall worth it over a full-size Sawzall?

If most of your cuts are one-handed, overhead or in tight spaces, yes. For heavy demolition and thick lumber, a full-size Sawzall with a longer stroke cuts faster.

Does it come with a battery?

Many listings, including the $39.99 eBay price as of November 4, 2026, are bare tool only. Check the listing for battery and charger before buying.

What blades does it use?

It takes standard reciprocating saw blades with a 1/2 in. shank, loaded through the QUIK-LOK clamp. Use wood blades for lumber and bimetal blades for metal and PVC.

How does it compare to the M12 Hackzall?

The M18 version has more power and runs on the larger M18 batteries. The M12 is lighter and smaller but slower in metal and thick wood.

Can it cut metal pipe and conduit?

Yes. With a bimetal blade it handles conduit, copper and threaded rod; the pivoting shoe helps keep the blade seated on round pipe.

Bare-tool prices drop during Milwaukee promotions and holiday sales. The $39.99 eBay price as of November 4, 2026 is far below typical new pricing, so confirm condition and contents.

Our take on the Milwaukee M18 Hackzall

The Milwaukee M18 Hackzall is a one-handed cordless reciprocating saw on the M18 18V battery platform. It runs 0-3,000 strokes per minute with a 3/4 in. stroke, a pivoting shoe and a QUIK-LOK blade clamp, and weighs about 4 lb (1.85 kg) with a 5-year warranty. Its dual-gear anti-vibration system is the main selling point over cheaper one-handed saws. At $39.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits well below what this tool usually sells for new, so check that listing is a bare tool or kit before buying.
