Our take on the Mondawe 36 in. Wall Mount/Recessed LED Electric Fireplace with Overheat Protection

The Mondawe 36 in. is a black electric fireplace that mounts on the wall or recesses into it, with a 5,000 BTU heater rated for rooms up to 400 square feet. It runs on electricity, so it needs no venting or gas line, and overheat protection shuts the heater off if it gets too hot. The best new price is $80.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, which is low for a 36-inch wall-mount unit; most comparable fireplaces sell for well over $100.

Pros

  • 5,000 BTU output heats up to 400 square feet
  • Overheat protection adds a safety cutoff
  • No venting, gas line or chimney needed
  • Low price at $80.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026
Cons
  • Electric heat is supplemental, not a whole-home solution
  • Flame effect is simulated, not a real fire
  • Heater fan can be audible in a quiet room
  • Depth listed as 30 inches is unusually deep for a wall unit, so measure before ordering

Questions and answers

Is the Mondawe 36 in. electric fireplace worth it?
At $80.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a cheap way to add flame ambiance and supplemental heat to a room up to 400 square feet. It will not replace a primary heating system, so judge it as a decorative heater.
Can it be recessed into a wall or only hung?
Mondawe lists it as both wall-mount and recessed, so you can hang it flush on the surface or build it into a framed opening. Recessing requires framing and clearance around the unit, so check the install instructions first.
How much space will it heat?
The 5,000 BTU heater is rated for up to 400 square feet. That suits a bedroom, office or small living room, but it will struggle in a large open-plan space.
Does it need venting or a gas line?
No. It is all-electric and plug-in, so it needs only a standard outlet and no venting, chimney or gas connection.
What safety features does it have?
It has overheat protection that cuts the heater if internal temperatures get too high. Keep the front clear and do not cover the unit while it runs.
When is the price lowest?
Electric fireplaces tend to drop in price outside the fall and winter heating season and during holiday sales. The current $80.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is already low, so compare the seven stores listing it before waiting.
Where is the Mondawe 36 in. Wall Mount/Recessed LED Electric Fireplace with Overheat Protection cheapest?
At Macy's, for $192.20, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Mondawe 36 in. Wall Mount/Recessed LED Electric Fireplace with Overheat Protection?
