Our take on the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Lens with UV Filter Kit

The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is Nikon's pro standard zoom for full-frame Z-mount cameras, covering wide angle to short telephoto at a constant f/2.8. It uses 17 elements in 15 groups, including aspherical glass, and focuses as close as 1.2 feet. It has no optical stabilization, so it leans on the camera's in-body stabilization. The best new price is $1,996.95 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 6, 2026, the only new price listed.

Questions and answers

Is the f/2.8 worth it over the f/4 version?
Yes if you shoot in low light or want shallower depth of field. The f/2.8 gathers twice the light and blurs backgrounds more, at higher cost and weight.
Does this lens have image stabilization?
No. It has no optical VR and depends on the Z camera's in-body stabilization, which most full-frame Z bodies have.
What filters does it take?
It takes 82mm front filters. That is a larger, pricier size than the 77mm thread on many zooms.
How close can it focus?
Minimum focus distance is 1.2 feet (38 cm) across the zoom range. That is close enough for tight detail shots but not true macro.
What is in the box?
The kit pairs the lens with a UV filter. Check the listing for caps, hood and pouch, since bundle contents vary.
When is it cheapest?
Nikon lenses usually dip during holiday and rebate periods. The current best new price is $1,996.95 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 6, 2026.
