Questions and answers

Is this yarn good for baby blankets?
Yes. Cotton Aran is breathable, machine washable and soft against skin, and five balls are enough for a stroller or crib-size blanket. Wash cool and dry flat to limit shrinkage.
What needle and hook size should I use?
Aran weight usually works on 4.5–5 mm knitting needles or a 5–5.5 mm crochet hook. Swatch first, since cotton gauge can shift after washing.
How much does one pack make?
The pack holds 8.8 oz across five balls, roughly enough for a baby blanket, a short-sleeve top in smaller sizes, or a set of dishcloths. Adult sweaters usually need two packs.
Is it machine washable?
Yes, cotton aran is machine washable. Use cool water and a gentle cycle, then dry flat; hot water and a tumble dryer can shrink it.
When is the best time to buy?
Cotton yarn tends to be discounted in spring and during store-wide yarn sales. Compare the current price with its recent range before buying a larger quantity.
