Is the PORTER-CABLE 20V reciprocating saw worth it?

It is a reasonable bare-tool buy if you already own PORTER-CABLE 20V batteries. At $86.59 at Zoro as of November 4, 2026, it costs less than most cordless recip saws, but you must add a battery and blades.

What comes in the box?

The saw alone. No battery, charger or blade is included, so budget for a 20V pack and 6 in reciprocating blades.

How does it compare with a corded saw?

It trades power for portability. The 0-3,000 SPM and 1 in wood capacity suit light cuts, while a corded saw handles thick lumber and long demolition runs better.

What blades does it take?

Standard reciprocating saw blades with a 1/2 in shank. The tool-free clamp accepts common 6 in wood and metal blades.

Can it cut metal or PVC?

Yes, with the right blade. Use a fine-tooth bi-metal blade for metal and a coarse blade for PVC; the variable-speed trigger helps control heat and chatter.

Our take on the PORTER-CABLE 20-Volt Reciprocating Saw

The PORTER-CABLE 20-Volt Reciprocating Saw is a bare-tool cordless saw for cutting wood, metal and plastic with standard reciprocating blades. It runs at 0-3,000 SPM with a variable-speed trigger, a tool-free blade change and a pivoting shoe. The bare tool weighs about 4.6 lbs as packaged, so it is light enough for one-handed overhead work. At $86.59 at Zoro as of November 4, 2026, it is the lowest of the five new prices we track, but it ships without a battery, charger or blade.
