Does the kit include batteries and a charger?

No. Despite the kit name, this listing includes the saw and a carbide blade but no batteries or charger. You need two 18V LXT batteries, which also means the tool runs at 36V only with both fitted.

Up to 255 mm in wood and 130 mm in pipe, including mild steel pipe. The two speed ranges let you slow down for metal and run full speed in wood.

Is it worth it over the 18V LXT recip saw?

The 36V brushless model gives more power and speed for demolition and thick material. If you mostly cut small branches and light pipe, the lighter single-battery 18V saw is easier to handle.

How heavy is it to use?

The tool weighs 4.6 kg, and with two batteries fitted it is heavier still. It suits two-handed work at bench or ground level better than overhead cutting.

Is $466.25 a good price?

Only one store lists it new at $466.25 as of November 4, 2026, so there is no competing price to judge against. Compare it with the cost of two LXT batteries if you do not already own them.

What blade does it take?

It uses standard reciprocating saw blades with a tool-less change system. A 130 mm carbide reciprocating blade is included.

Our take on the Makita 36V LXT Brushless Cordless Recipro Saw Kit

This is Makita's 36V (two 18V LXT batteries) brushless reciprocating saw, sold as a kit with a carbide blade but no batteries or charger. It cuts up to 255 mm in wood and 130 mm in pipe, with a two-speed trigger (0-2,300 and 0-3,000 SPM), tool-less blade change and shoe adjustment, an electric brake and XPT dust and moisture protection. At 4.6 kg it is a heavy two-battery tool aimed at demolition and rough cutting rather than trim work. The best new price is $466.25 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, from a single store, so there is no recent range to compare against.
