Is the SE CE 24 Standard worth it over a used CE 24?

At $499 new at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is the cheapest way into a bolt-on PRS. A used US-made CE 24 costs several times more but has better hardware and pickups.

What is the difference between the SE CE 24 Standard and the SE CE 24?

The Standard has an all-mahogany body with a satin finish. The regular SE CE 24 adds a maple top with a gloss finish and a flamed or quilted veneer, for a higher price.

Does it have coil-tap pickups?

Yes. The tone knob pushes and pulls to split the 85/15 "S" humbuckers into single-coil tones.

What comes in the box?

The guitar and a PRS gig bag. A tremolo arm is included; a cable and strap are not.

Is the neck good for small hands?

The Wide Thin profile is slim front to back but fairly wide at the nut. Players with small hands often prefer a shorter scale or a Pattern Regular neck.

About the PRS SE CE 24 Standard

Professional Quality with a Popular Price Tag

Originally introduced in 1988, the CE has become an essential part of the PRS line-up, offering the snap and response of bolt-on construction. The SE CE 24 Standard is the most affordable CE yet, pairing an all-mahogany body with a bolt-on maple neck. The mahogany body features a thin satin finish that results in a highly resonant instrument, and the maple neck’s semi-gloss finish provides a smooth playing feel. The PRS 85/15 “S” pickups provide extended high and low end with clarity and balance, while the push/pull tone control adds the versatility of coil taps.

This workhorse instrument delivers looks, tone, and playability, and is a great option for beginning players through professional musicians thanks to its high-quality build and popular price tag.
