Our take on the Rubber Hex Dumbbell

This is a single 5 lb rubber-encased hex dumbbell with a knurled chrome handle. The six-sided head keeps it from rolling and the rubber coating protects floors, which makes it a common pick for light accessory work. At $14.00 at Perform Better as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the only new price listed, so there is no cheaper store to compare against right now.

Questions and answers

Is $14 a good price for a 5 lb hex dumbbell?
It is in line with typical retail for a single rubber hex dumbbell of this size. Perform Better lists it at $14.00 as of November 5, 2026, and it is the only new price shown, so there is nothing cheaper to compare.
Will the rubber damage my floors?
No. The rubber-encased head is designed to protect floors, and the hex shape keeps the dumbbell from rolling into furniture or walls.
Is this sold as one dumbbell or a pair?
It is a single 5 lb dumbbell. If you want a matched pair for curls or presses, you need to buy two.
What can I do with a 5 lb dumbbell?
It suits warm-ups, lateral raises, curls, lunges and physical therapy work. For presses or swings you will likely want 10 lb and up.
Does the knurled handle hurt bare hands?
The knurling is light and contoured, so most people find it comfortable for high-rep sets. Grip improves further with lifting gloves or chalk.
Where is the Rubber Hex Dumbbell cheapest?
At Perform Better, for $14.00, as of our latest check.
