Questions and answers

Is the X Ultra 360 GTX worth it?
For wet-weather day hikes it is a solid buy: waterproofing, grip and stability are its strengths. At $154.95 at Backcountry.com as of November 4, 2026, it sits near the middle of its recent range, so waiting is unlikely to save much.
How does it compare with the X Ultra 4 GTX?
The 360 is the newer, more cushioned take on the same fast-hiking formula, with a slightly roomier toe and updated outsole. The X Ultra 4 is often discounted and remains a good pick if you want a firmer, more precise feel.
Does it run true to size?
Most hikers go true to size, but the fit is on the narrower side. If you wear thick socks or have wide feet, try a half size up or look at a wide version.
Is it actually waterproof?
Yes, the GORE-TEX membrane blocks water in rain, wet grass and shallow puddles. It is not a wading boot, and water can still enter over the collar in deep crossings.
When is it cheapest?
Salomon and outdoor retailers discount it most around end-of-season sales and major holiday events. The current best of $154.95 at Backcountry.com as of November 4, 2026 is a reasonable price, not a deep markdown.
Where is the Salomon Mens X Ultra 360 GTX Hiking Shoes cheapest?
