Our take on the Salomon Mens XA Pro 3D V9

Questions and answers

Is the XA Pro 3D V9 good for hiking as well as running?
Yes. The high foot protection, 3D chassis and 3.5 mm lugs make it a solid light hiker for rocky trails. Runners who want speed may find it heavy.
How does it compare to the XA Pro 3D V8?
The V9 keeps the same formula: 3D chassis, protective upper and lugged outsole. Changes are mostly in the upper and fit details rather than a major redesign.
What drop and weight does it have?
It has an 11 mm drop and weighs about 11 oz per shoe. That is a higher drop and heavier build than many modern trail runners.
Is it suitable for wide feet?
It comes in a regular width. The fit runs true to size for most, but shoppers with wide feet should try it on or size up.
When is the best time to buy it?
Prices tend to dip when a new version launches or during seasonal sales. The best new price was $125 at eBay as of November 4, 2026.
Where is the Salomon Mens XA Pro 3D V9 cheapest?
At eBay, for $125.00, 17% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
