Is the Sauder 5-Shelf Bookcase worth it?

For a budget tall bookcase, yes. At $83.92 at The Home Depot as of November 5, 2026, it is cheap for the shelf space, as long as you accept flat-pack assembly and engineered wood.

How tall is it, and will it fit my room?

It is about 70 inches tall and roughly 35 inches wide, so check ceiling height and doorways. It is freestanding and should be anchored to the wall.

How much weight does each shelf hold?

35 lb per shelf. That handles rows of books and small plants, but not heavy bins or large speakers.

Do I need tools to assemble it?

Sauder lists a hammer as the required tool, and the kit includes the rest. Plan on an hour or more and a second person for the tall panels.

Are the shelves adjustable?

Yes, three of the five shelves adjust, so you can set spacing for tall books or bins.

The lowest recent new price is $83.92 at The Home Depot as of November 5, 2026. Watch for furniture sales around holidays and back-to-school.
