Is the SENTRO 40-needle machine worth it for a beginner?

Yes, if you want a cheap way to try crank knitting. It handles hats and flat panels, but expect to learn tension and clearing jams. Serious knitters will outgrow the 40-needle cylinder quickly.

What can I make with 40 needles?

Hats, gloves, bags, flat panels and simple clothes. The 4.8-inch height and 40 pegs limit width, so adult sweaters need panels sewn together or a larger machine.

What yarn weight does it take?

Yarn from about 1.5mm to 3.5mm, roughly fingering to worsted weight. Very thick yarn can jam the needles, and very thin yarn can slip.

What comes in the box?

The machine, crochet hooks, 3 hand needles, a wire frame, 3 bundles of wool yarn, a screwdriver, 4 suction cups, 4 screws, an accessory bag and instructions.

Does it need batteries or power?

No. It is fully manual: you thread the yarn and turn the crank by hand. The suction cups hold it steady on a smooth table.

When is the best time to buy it?

Craft supplies often dip around back-to-school and holiday sales. The current $35.90 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent range.
