Is the PS4 Pro worth buying now?

Only if the price is low and you mainly want cheap access to the PS4 library. A PS5 plays PS4 games too and is the better long-term buy.

Does the PS4 Pro play 4K Blu-ray discs?

No. It upscales games to 4K and plays standard Blu-ray discs, but it cannot play 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray movies.

How does it compare with the standard PS4?

The Pro has a stronger GPU, 1 TB of storage and 4K/HDR output. Games look sharper and some run at higher frame rates, but the library is the same.

Does it play PS5 games?

No. It plays PS4 titles only; PS5 exclusives require a PS5.

A used or remaining-stock unit typically includes the console, one DualShock 4 controller, an HDMI cable and a power cable. Check the listing, since bundles vary.

Prices are lowest on the used market and during clearance sales of remaining stock. Watch listings around major sales events.

Our take on the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro

The PlayStation 4 Pro is Sony's mid-generation upgrade to the PS4, adding a faster GPU and support for 4K output and HDR. It plays the full PS4 library, runs many games at higher resolution or steadier frame rates, and includes a Blu-ray drive and 1 TB of storage. It is discontinued now that the PS5 has replaced it, so current prices depend on remaining stock and the used market.
