Our take on the STRYI Profi 45 degree Palm Carving V-Tool

The STRYI Profi is a palm-sized V-parting tool for woodcarving, with a 45-degree blade in 3mm or 5mm width made from W1-7 carbon steel hardened to 58-60 HRC. The 130mm tool sits in an oak handle finished with linseed oil, and it arrives sharpened and ready to cut. At $32.85 on eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is the lowest of the four new prices we track.

Questions and answers

Is the STRYI Profi V-tool ready to use out of the box?
Yes. STRYI ships it sharpened, so it can cut as soon as it arrives. Many carvers still strop it lightly before fine work.
Should I get the 3mm or 5mm blade?
The 3mm cuts narrow parting lines and fine lettering. The 5mm clears wider V-grooves faster and suits bolder relief work.
Does the carbon steel blade rust?
It can. W1-7 steel is not stainless, so wipe it dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on the blade.
What is the blade angle?
The V-tool has a 45-degree blade angle, which is a common carving geometry for controlled parting cuts.
Is $32.85 a good price?
It is the lowest of the four new prices we track as of November 5, 2026, so it is a fair entry point for a hardened palm V-tool.
Is this tool suitable for beginners?
STRYI lists it for professionals. Beginners can use it, but a cheaper starter set is often a better first buy.
Where is the STRYI Profi 45 degree Palm Carving V-Tool cheapest?
At Wood carving tools STRYI, for $69.00, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the STRYI Profi 45 degree Palm Carving V-Tool?
