Questions and answers

Is TevraPet FirstAct Plus worth it?
It is a low-cost fipronil and (S)-methoprene spot-on that covers adult fleas, ticks and flea eggs and larvae. At $14.77 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it costs far less per dose than most vet-channel brands. It suits budget-minded prevention, not a dog with an active severe infestation.
How does it compare with Frontline Plus?
It uses the same two active ingredients as Frontline Plus, fipronil and (S)-methoprene, at similar concentrations. The main differences are brand, carrier formula and price. Some owners find Frontline lasts longer in heavy tick areas.
How often do I apply it, and is it waterproof?
Apply one dose monthly for up to 30 days of protection. The formula is waterproof, so bathing or swimming does not require reapplication once it has dried. Avoid bathing the dog for about 48 hours after applying.
Can I use it on cats or puppies?
No. It is only for dogs weighing 6 to 22 lbs, and the label warns against use on cats. Puppies should be at least 8 weeks old and within the weight range; check with a vet for very young or sick dogs.
What is in the box?
The box contains six single-dose spot-on applicators, a six-month supply for one small dog. Each dose is sized for dogs in the 6-22 lb range.
When is the price lowest?
Spot-on treatments often dip during spring and summer flea season promotions and around Black Friday. The current $14.77 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is already near the low end for a six-dose box.
Where is the TevraPet FirstAct Plus Flea and Tick Prevention for Small Dogs 6-22 lbs cheapest?
