Our take on the Thomastik-Infeld IN366 Infeld Bass Guitar String Set

The Thomastik-Infeld IN366 is a long-scale roundwound electric bass string set from the Austrian maker known for its flatwounds and orchestral strings. The nickel-iron roundwound design aims for a warmer, more vintage voice than typical stainless roundwounds. At $82.50 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range for a set that usually sells well above common roundwound prices.

Questions and answers

Is the IN366 set roundwound or flatwound?
It is roundwound. Thomastik-Infeld is better known for flatwounds, but this set uses a round wire over a metal core for a warmer roundwound tone.
Will it fit my bass?
It is a long-scale set, so it fits standard 34-inch basses. Short-scale and medium-scale basses need a different set.
How does it compare with standard nickel roundwounds?
Expect a warmer, less bright voice and a smoother feel. Standard nickel sets cost far less but often sound brighter and wear out sooner.
Is $82.50 a good price?
That is the best new price found, at eBay as of November 7, 2026, and it sits at the low end of the set's recent range. Four stores list it new, so compare before buying.
Are these strings good for rock and slap?
They can work, but the top end is tamer than most roundwounds. Players who want aggressive brightness and snap may prefer a stainless steel set.
Where is the Thomastik-Infeld IN366 Infeld Bass Guitar String Set cheapest?
At Bassstringsonly, for $96.99, 25% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Thomastik-Infeld IN366 Infeld Bass Guitar String Set?
