Is this a heavy-body or fluid acrylic?

It is a heavy-body artist acrylic, thick enough to hold peaks and brush marks. Thin it with water or a medium if you want a smoother flow.

How does 200ml compare with a standard tube?

A standard acrylic tube is 37ml or 60ml, so 200ml is roughly three to five tubes. It is a good choice for a color you use often.

Is it good for beginners?

It works for beginners, but the large bottle is a big commitment. Buy a small tube first if you are testing the brand.

Can I use it on canvas and paper?

Yes. It adheres to canvas, board, paper and most porous surfaces. Prime bare surfaces first for the best result.

When is the best time to buy?

Only one store lists it new at $33.84 as of November 7, 2026, so there is no cheaper option to wait for. Watch for store-wide sales at Jackson's Art Supplies.

Our take on the Vallejo Artist Acrylic Paint

Vallejo Artist Acrylic is a professional-grade, heavy-body acrylic in a 200ml squeeze bottle. It is made for canvas and panel work where you want strong pigment load and a buttery consistency that holds brush and knife marks. The 200ml size is large for an artist acrylic, so it suits painters who use a lot of one color. At $33.84 at Jackson's Art Supplies as of November 7, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no cheaper store to compare against right now.

Pros

Large 200ml bottle lasts far longer than 60ml tubes
Heavy-body consistency holds texture and brush marks
Strong pigment load for opaque, saturated color
Single bottle means less tube waste and easier mixing
Works for impasto and for thinning with water or medium

Cons

Only one store listed, so no price competition
Large bottle is a lot to commit to for a color you rarely use
Thick body can be harder to mix evenly than softer acrylics
Skin can form on the nozzle if the cap is left off
