Does this kit include hardware and cymbals?

No. The RDP2F5TQC is a shell pack: snare, bass drum, two rack toms and a floor tom. Stands, pedal, throne and cymbals are sold separately.

Is $519.99 a good price for this kit?

It is the lowest new price among the two stores listing it as of November 7, 2026, and sits at the bottom of its recent range. Waiting is unlikely to save much unless a store runs a holiday sale.

What sizes are the drums?

Yamaha's Rydeen five-piece uses compact sizes: a 22-inch bass drum, 10- and 12-inch rack toms, a 16-inch floor tom and a 14-inch snare.

Is this a good first drum kit?

Yes, if you budget for hardware and cymbals. The shells are sturdy and tune easily, which suits beginners, though the stock heads are worth replacing.

How does it compare with a birch or maple kit?

Poplar shells give a warmer, less projecting tone than birch or maple. For practice and small gigs it is fine; for loud stages or recording, a higher-tier kit is a better fit.

What comes in the box?

The five drum shells with factory heads and the tom mounting hardware. Check the listing for whether a bass drum pedal or throne is bundled, since most Rydeen packs leave them out.
