Is the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 worth it?

Yes, if you want a compact, low-impact cardio machine and will use the interval programs. If you want a touchscreen and streaming classes, the M8 or a connected elliptical is a better fit.

How is the M6 different from the M8?

The M8 adds a larger console with a color display and more resistance levels. The M6 keeps the same motion and frame style at a lower price with a simpler LCD console.

Does the M6 need to be plugged in?

Yes. The console and resistance display run on household power, so place it near an outlet.

What is the maximum user weight?

Bowflex rates the M6 for users up to 300 pounds.

Is the Max Trainer M6 hard on the knees?

It is low impact, with feet staying on pedals rather than striking a deck. The step height and stride still take getting used to, especially for shorter users.

When is the M6 cheapest?

It has sold near $999 at BowFlex as of November 5, 2026, the low end of its recent range. Holiday sales and new-model clearances are when deeper discounts tend to appear.

Our take on the Bowflex Max Trainer M6

The Bowflex Max Trainer M6 is a hybrid cardio machine that combines a stepper's up-and-down path with an elliptical's arm handles, so one session works legs, arms and lungs. It has 16 resistance levels, a backlit LCD console, a heart rate monitor and Bluetooth for the Max Intelligence app. The M6 is the entry point in the Max Trainer line, below the M8 and M9. At $999 at BowFlex as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with three stores listing it new.
