How much weight does each dumbbell hold?

Each dumbbell adjusts from 5 lb to 52.5 lb. That is 10 to 105 lb for the pair.

How does the weight adjustment work?

Turn the dial on each handle to the weight you want and lift it from the cradle. Steps are 2.5 lb up to 25 lb and 5 lb above that.

Is 52.5 lb enough for strength training?

It covers most accessory and upper-body work, but heavy bench, row and shoulder pressing will outgrow it. Lifters who need more should look at the SelectTech 1090.

How much space does the pair need?

Each dumbbell sits in its own cradle roughly the size of a small suitcase. The pair takes about the floor space of two shoeboxes side by side.

What is included in the box?

You get two dumbbells and two storage cradles. Plates are built into the dumbbells and are not sold separately.

When is the price lowest?

Adjustable dumbbells tend to dip during Black Friday and January fitness sales. With only one new listing at $429.99 as of November 5, 2026, watch for seasonal cuts.

Our take on the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells (Pair)

The SelectTech 552 is a pair of adjustable dumbbells that dial from 5 to 52.5 lb each, replacing about 15 pairs of fixed dumbbells in one compact footprint. A single dial per handle sets the weight in 2.5 lb steps up to 25 lb and 5 lb steps above that. The best new price is $429.99 at playitagainsports.com as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so comparison shopping is limited.
