Our take on the CCM A27 Ice Hockey Skates

The CCM A27 is an entry-level ice hockey skate built on CCM's 2D Metaframe boot with a heat-moldable shell, a 7mm felt tongue and embossed lace-bite protection. It uses a Speedblade Pro holder with non-replaceable stainless steel runners, so the blade is fixed to the holder rather than swappable. The best new price is $63.73 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no recent price range to compare against.

Best forBeginners and first-season youth or adult playersRecreational and pond hockeySkaters on a tight budgetRental or loaner skate sets
Pros
  • Heat-moldable boot can be baked to fit the foot
  • 2D Metaframe construction gives a stiff, supportive base for the price
  • Embossed lace-bite protection around the top of the boot
  • 7mm felt tongue adds comfort and some impact padding
  • Speedblade Pro holder is a proven, widely supported platform
Cons
  • Non-replaceable blades mean a new skate, not a new runner, when steel wears out
  • Entry-level stiffness and padding suit beginners, not strong or heavy skaters
  • Felt tongue offers less protection than the thicker tongues on higher models
  • Only one store lists it new, so price and size options are limited

Questions and answers

Is the CCM A27 good for a beginner?
Yes. It is an entry-level skate with a forgiving heat-moldable boot and enough stiffness for learning to skate and play. Strong or heavy skaters will want a stiffer model.
Can the blades be replaced?
No. The A27 uses non-replaceable stainless steel runners in the Speedblade Pro holder. Once the steel is worn down, the skate has to be replaced.
Does the boot need to be baked?
It is heat moldable, so a shop can bake it to speed up break-in and improve fit. It will still break in with normal skating if you skip baking.
How does the A27 compare with the CCM Jetspeed or Tacks lines?
The A27 is a budget recreational skate. Jetspeed and Tacks models cost more and add stiffer boots, replaceable blades and better liners for competitive play.
What sizes are available?
Sizing depends on the single store listing it new. Check the listing for the size run before ordering, since stock is limited.
When is the A27 cheapest?
Clearance periods at the end of the hockey season are the usual time for entry-level skates to drop. With one store listing it new at $63.73 as of November 7, 2026, there is little competition to push the price lower.
Where is the CCM A27 Ice Hockey Skates cheapest?
At eBay, for $63.73, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the CCM A27 Ice Hockey Skates?
4 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, HockeyMonkey.com, Pure Hockey, Scheels.
