Questions and answers

Is the Henckels Modernist 14-piece set worth it?
For a home cook who wants one complete set with built-in sharpening, yes. At $219.95 at Wayfair as of November 5, 2026, it is near the bottom of its recent price range.
How does the self-sharpening block work?
Ceramic honing wheels in each slot straighten and touch up the edge as you insert or remove a knife. It maintains an edge but will not repair a badly dulled or chipped blade.
Are these knives dishwasher safe?
Henckels lists the set as dishwasher safe. Hand washing still keeps edges sharper longer and protects the handles.
What is included in the 14 pieces?
Chef's, santoku, bread, utility and paring knives, steak knives, kitchen shears and the self-sharpening block. Check the slot count if you need a specific knife.
How does it compare with the Henckels Definition set?
Both are forged German stainless steel with self-sharpening blocks. The Modernist uses sandblasted stainless handles; the Definition line uses different handle styling, so pick by feel and price.
When is the price lowest?
Knife block sets usually dip during holiday sales and wedding-registry promotions. The current $219.95 at Wayfair is already near the low end of its recent range.
Where is the Henckels Modernist 14-Piece Self-Sharpening Knife Block Set cheapest?
At Wayfair, for $219.95, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Henckels Modernist 14-Piece Self-Sharpening Knife Block Set?
