Is the J & D GG II Rock worth it for a beginner?

Yes, if you want a short-scale humbucker guitar for little money. Expect to pay a tech for a setup, since budget guitars often ship with high action.

How does it compare with a Squier or Epiphone at this price?

It undercuts most Squier and Epiphone models by a wide margin and adds a bone nut. Those brands offer better resale value and more consistent quality control.

What is the scale length and nut width?

It has a 24.75-inch (628 mm) scale and a 43 mm bone nut. That suits smaller hands and players used to Gibson-style guitars.

What pickups does it have?

Two humbuckers (HH) with a standard three-way switch layout. They are voiced for rock and handle distortion better than single coils.

The guitar itself; cables, gig bags and tools are usually sold separately at this price. Confirm with the store before ordering.

The only new price on record is $108 at Music Store US as of November 4, 2026. With one seller, watch for seasonal sales rather than expecting a price drop.
